Marmaris in 3 Days: An Itinerary Starting from the Old Town
If you have three days in Marmaris, you can comfortably see both the town and its surroundings. The plan below assumes you're staying in the old town, because when the castle, bazaar and marina are all within walking distance, everything becomes much easier.
Day 1 — The old town and the castle
Spend the first day unhurried in the heart of Marmaris. Walk the stone streets inside the castle in the morning, visit Marmaris Castle and the Archaeology Museum, then lose yourself in the covered bazaar. In the afternoon stroll along the marina; in the evening, if you like, join the buzz of Bar Street. You'll find more on the old-town fabric in this article.
Day 2 — Head out to sea
The ideal choice for the second day is a boat tour. Tours that combine the bay's coves, swimming stops and caves in a single day leave from the marina in the morning. For routes and tips, see our boat tours guide. If you'd prefer a calmer day, you can also head to a cove such as Kumlubük.
Day 3 — A day-trip adventure
There are a few lovely options for the third day. If you have a passport, you can take a day trip to Rhodes by ferry; if you prefer nature, you can explore the coves of Kumlubük, Amos and Bencik; or you can venture to Dalyan, famous for its lagoons. For more ideas, see our guide to the surroundings.
When to go and what to eat
If you want to avoid the crowds, spring and autumn are ideal; the details are in this article. As for food, don't miss the Turkish spread breakfast and fresh fish; our food guide will point the way.
An accommodation tip
The biggest thing that makes this plan easy is location. Staying inside the castle, a few steps from the bazaar and marina, you can spend all three days without getting in a car. Check the houses available for your dates →
