When to Visit Marmaris? Sea, Weather and Crowds Month by Month
With the generosity of its Mediterranean climate, Marmaris is suitable for a holiday during most of the year. Still, the balance of sea temperature, weather and crowds changes from season to season. Here is a short summary of what to expect in each period.
Spring (April–May)
In this period, when nature comes alive and the bougainvillea blooms, the weather starts to warm and the sea slowly approaches swimmable temperatures. Since the beaches are not yet crowded, it's an ideal time for a calm holiday and relaxed sightseeing. The stone streets of the old town are especially pleasant in these months.
Summer (June–August)
The classic holiday season, when both the air and the sea temperature peak. The sea warms up to around 26°C in August; however, this is also the busiest and liveliest time. Nightlife and boat tours run at full speed.
Autumn (September–October)
A favourite of many travellers. The weather is still warm and, since the sea has heated up all summer, swimming is very pleasant, while the summer crowds have eased a little. It's a balanced period in terms of prices and density.
In short
- Most balanced periods: April–May and September–October.
- Warmest sea and liveliest season: July–August.
- In Marmaris you can swim for roughly 7–8 months of the year.
